Most of us take our drinking water for granted. While clean water is available and simple to get through a faucet in your home, what goes on behind the scenes requires the input of many parts and people: knowledge of our water collection and distribution system, expertise of chemical, biological and technical processes, compliance with health regulations, budgeting to run the day-to-day business while preparing for the future and the unexpected.
Our operations include:
Water Treatment and Quality Monitoring
Equipment Repair and Maintenance
User Support and Communication
Administration and Taxes
Compliance with State and County laws and regulations
Accounting and Budgeting
Infrastructure modernization
Our water system is composed of a Main Well (Well #4) and a Backup Well (Well #1) located on Lichau Rd which are pumped to fill a 60,000-gallon tank on Oakridge (Tank #1). A Booster Pump Station on Acacia Way brings water from Tank #1 to a 2nd 60,000-gallon tank (Tank #2) at the top of Acacia. All connections receive water by gravity from these 2 tanks.
A communication support system interconnects pumps and tanks to maintain the water levels in the tanks 24/7.
In 2025, the company installed an automatic backup generator for our main well pumps and backup batteries for our communication support system, allowing to maintain water service for more than 60 hours during power outages.
In the past, the company operated 2 other wells, but they turned insufficient to deliver water to the community: Well #2 is on standby and Well #3 is Inactive.
The College Park Mutual Water Co. is a public water community company providing potable water to about 237 people through 75 metered service connections.
It is a non-profit organization. All incomes are used to maintain the operation of our current water distribution system, ensure the safety of our water quality, stay compliant with state and local regulations, and to build a reserve for future operations and emergencies.
Directors are volunteers. They can hire project managers and decide of their compensation.
